About the Festival

Outside The Box 2013 is the first annual, citywide, multi-arts festival based in Boston, Massachusetts.  With a wealth of theatres, concert halls, conservatories, performing arts centers, and educational institutions for the arts in the region, Outside The Box will capture talent and enthusiasm and generate creative energy from every corner of the city.

Ballet is one of many art forms we’ll be bringing outside.

Outside The Box 2013 is designed to change the way people engage and explore creativity, innovation and invention through the discovery and participation of the arts.  The Festival will showcase New England’s personality over the course of ten days from July 13 to 20, 2013 by shining a spotlight on Boston’s outdoor public spaces, and showcasing established institutions and independent voices.

Outside The Box is open to all and the events on the public spaces are free.  Outside The Box promises to captivate the spirit and imagination of residents and visitors alike by opening a window on one of America’s oldest cities.  The program will be as diverse as our city, from ballet to folk dance, from Shakespeare to modern poetry, from the symphony to pop artists.   You won’t want to miss Boston in the summer time as Outside The Box reveals the magic of art, music, drama, and dance in one of the most innovative and creative cities in the United States.
